Wed, 13 February 2008 JUNG PODCAST #21-ACTIVE IMAGINATIONMany subscribers have asked me to deal with the topic of active imagination. In this episode I introduce both active imagination and the transcendent function, as both concepts are linked. Active imagination, or “dreaming with your eyes open and the transcendent function (the bridging function that mediates the opposites) are central ideas within Analytical Psychology. Why then did Jung refuse to publish the only clear essay on the two areas he wrote in 1916 until 1956? What is it about the transcendent function that is so mysterious. This, and the next few episodes attempts to deal with that very question. Comments[6] |
It's great to have you back.
It is as though the sun has woken from his hibernation and is throwing light on our dreams.
I do have a suggestion; next time you go off-air for any length of time, please upload a message - no matter how brief - to tell us even roughly when to try the website again to quell our Betts addictions.

you rekindle me to explore active imagination again.
Jung on this death bed have been very open to East meditation techniques when i read the book called Zen & Chan
Teaching by Lu K. Y. Which seem to explore this transcendent function systematicially,in my opinion. He once said in his lecture that if you withdrawn all projections the world disappear! That really caught my attention.
